Tradition and Freshness
from the Gulf of Mexico

Picture

‘In Campeche, Mexico, my father’s birthplace, jipijapa abanicos—and the iconic Panama style hats—are handwoven using ancestral techniques that preserve this tradition alive.

Jipijapa, a palm-like plant native to the region and other parts of the continent, including Ecuador, serves as the material for these fans.  The artisans renowned for their jipijapa fan-making skills hail from Bécal and the former Santa Cruz Hacienda in Calkiní, Campeche, Mexico.

Beyond their practical use, jipijapa fans are unique works of art and cultural heritage, embodying the essence of a cherished heritage and deep family memories.’ —Viviana De la Barca.

What is a bubble skirt?

The distinctive silhouette of the puffball skirt, also known as the bubble skirt, has been a fashion staple since the 1950s. In the 1980s, iconic designers introduced their own versions of the bubble dress. Then the style became synonymous with drama and elegance, featuring a drop waist. Princess Diana’s iconic navy and white bubble skirt ensemble at the 1987 Cannes Film Festival cemented its status as a fashion moment.

Last year’s spring saw another revival of this skirt, known for its voluminous hemline that creates a rounded “bubble” effect. We’re definitely incorporating this trend into our spring-summer items for 2026.
